This service is only available as an add on to a dental cleaning.
Purpose: to conservatively brighten your smile over time, or for maintaining results of a professional in office whitening treatment (full 2 hour whitening appointment).
Boost availability may vary based on how long it takes to complete your dental hygiene visit, but we'll do our best to accommodate you!
If it's been more that 18 months since your last dental hygiene visit, you may not be a candidate for a boost until after a dental cleaning!
As with all whitening products and services, results are expected but cannot be guaranteed.
You may be a candidate for whitening if you have healthy teeth and gums, no crowns/veneers/fillings on front teeth (only natural teeth brighten), are over the age of 16 and are not pregnant or breast feeding. If you have heavy tartar built up or haven't seen a dental professional in a while, we may recommend a professional cleaning or a check up with a dentist prior to treatment!
Teeth that have had root canal treatments and those with intrinsic stain (tetracycline stain, decalcification, fluorosis) brighten unpredictably and can be more difficult to lighten! Not sure if you're a candidate? Fill out our questionnaire and we'll get back to you in 24-48 hours.
Teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile when done under the supervision of a dental pro! Common side effects may include sensitivity to hot/cold and irritation to the gums. Both of these side effects are temporary and reversible. If your teeth are already hyper-sensitive, teeth whitening my not be a good option for you. Your dental hygienist will help you decide if teeth whitening is right for you!
Your whitening treatment is customized to suit your needs and includes:
- a medical/dental history review
- oral health assessment
- removal of stain and tartar (light scaling)
- 60-70 minutes of whitening time (applications of hydrogen peroxide and/or carbamide peroxide to help you achieve your desired results)
- an at home Wicked White extender pen
If your starting shade is darker, your RDH may recommend adding a LED light activated kit to extend and maintain your results at home (reg. $150, end of year promo; save $50).
Results from teeth whitening typically last a good long while but because teeth naturally darken over time, we strongly recommend using a professional product at home or a 20 minute whitening boost 3-4 times a year to maintain your new brighter shade. In office whitening appointments (full treatment, not boosts) come with a Wicked White extender pen to extend results at home.
Results are expected, but we cannot guarantee that you'll achieve a certain shade. Once we have a look at your teeth, we can give you a better idea of what you can expect and we'll present you with a customized treatment plan! Depending on your starting shade and desired results, your hygienist may recommend adding an at home kit onto a full whitening treatment ($299+$130).
In our experience, the older teeth are, the more difficult they can be to brighten! Teeth that have intrinsic stain (stain that can't be polished off) and teeth that have root canals tend to whiten unpredictably.
In our experience, teeth whitening is rarely covered by dental insurance policies as it is considered to be a cosmetic procedure. If you plan has a flex spending account option, you may be able to submit your receipt on your own for reimbursement!
Because this is a professional product, we strongly recommend a complimentary consult/hands on demo with the purchase of this product. If you'd like to access a kit without making an appointment, please contact us directly. You can also add this kit to a dental cleaning and save $20.
